Leads

LinkedIn

Scrappy works with LinkedIn in four ways: it finds the profile URL for a lead you already have, scrapes profiles in bulk, enriches existing leads with profile data, and analyzes what a group of people has in common.

What it is for

A scraped lead often has a name and a company but no context. A LinkedIn URL gives you somewhere to look the person up, enrichment adds profile data to the lead, and commonalities analysis turns a list of profiles into reasons to get in touch.

Find a lead's profile URL

Lookup searches for the profile that belongs to a lead and attaches the URL to it. It needs no LinkedIn account.

  1. Open Leads.
  2. Use Find LinkedIn on a single lead, or select several and choose Find LinkedIn URLs.
  3. The URL is saved on the lead when a match is found. You can run the lookup again to re-find it.
curl -X POST https://scrappy.gg/api/leads/LEAD_ID/linkedin-lookup \
-H "Authorization: Bearer sk_your_api_key"

The response carries the linkedinUrl, a confidence between 0 and 1, and the reasoning behind the match. For many leads at once, use POST /api/leads/bulk/linkedin-lookup.

Add a LinkedIn credential

Scraping and enrichment run through a LinkedIn account you provide.

  1. Open the Credentials page and choose LinkedIn.
  2. Pick an authentication method: session cookies (the li_at cookie from a signed-in browser), email and password, or a Sales Navigator API key.
  3. Save it. The credential is encrypted before it is stored, and the password is never returned by the API.

See Credentials for how storage and health tracking work.

Scrape and enrich profiles

A LinkedIn job collects profiles in the background. Each job has a mode that says where the profiles come from:

ModeInput
PROFILE_URLSA list of up to 100 profile URLs.
COMPANY_EMPLOYEESA company, by URL, id or name.
SEARCH_RESULTSA search query, such as a title and an industry.
ENRICHMENTThe ids of leads you already have.
SALES_NAVIGATORSales Navigator filters or a saved search.

From the dashboard, select leads and choose Enrich with LinkedIn. Over the API, create a job:

curl -X POST https://scrappy.gg/api/linkedin/jobs \
-H "Authorization: Bearer sk_your_api_key" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"name": "VP Sales at fintechs",
"credentialId": "cred_123",
"config": {
"mode": "SEARCH_RESULTS",
"searchQuery": { "title": "VP Sales", "industry": "Fintech" },
"maxResults": 100,
"includeContactInfo": false,
"skipExisting": true
}
}'

name and config.mode are required. maxResults can be 1 to 1,000 and defaults to 100. skipExisting leaves out people you already have. credentialId is optional; without it Scrappy selects one of your credentials.

Check a job with GET /api/linkedin/jobs/{id} and cancel it with DELETE on the same path. POST /api/linkedin/jobs/{id}/retry runs a finished or failed job again for only the leads that were not enriched the first time.

Check a credential's health

Each LinkedIn credential shows a status, a daily limit and the requests it has left today.

StatusMeaning
ACTIVEWorking normally.
RATE_LIMITEDTemporarily blocked by LinkedIn.
SOFT_BANNEDLinkedIn has placed a soft restriction on the account.
INVALIDThe credential no longer works.

To test one on demand, post its id to POST /api/linkedin/validate:

{
"success": true,
"data": {
"isValid": true,
"isSoftBanned": false,
"captchaRequired": false,
"requestsRemaining": 450
}
}

Analyze commonalities

Commonalities analysis looks across a set of profiles for shared background, such as employers, schools and skills. You can run it in three places:

  • on a set of profiles, with POST /api/linkedin/commonalities and a profiles array of names, job titles and companies (10 requests per hour);
  • on one account, with POST /api/accounts/{accountId}/commonalities and a targetProfile describing the person to compare against; and
  • as a step in a deal campaign, where it feeds the outreach angles for each ranked account.

What it costs

Commonalities analysis is an AI operation and uses credits. Current prices are listed in Credits and billing.
