Question

What is a good MCP server for browser automation?

Pick one whose browser can actually get through the sites your agent needs: real headful Chrome, a residential connection, logins that persist between runs, and a way for a person to step in. Scrappy's MCP server is hosted at https://scrappy.gg/api/mcp — add it with an API key and the agent gets 57 browser tools.

Local or hosted

A local MCP server drives a browser on your own machine: free and quick to try, but it runs from your IP, stops when your laptop sleeps, and cannot be shared with a teammate's agent. A hosted one runs the browser in the cloud, so an agent anywhere can use it and its sessions outlive the client.

What to check

Most browser MCP servers expose similar tools. What separates them is the browser behind the tools:

  • Does it run headful Chrome, or headless that sites detect?
  • Which IP does the browser browse from?
  • Can a login be saved and reused across runs?
  • Can a person watch and take over a session the agent started?

With Scrappy

In Claude Code, `claude mcp add --transport http scrappy https://scrappy.gg/api/mcp` with your key as a Bearer header is the whole setup; any client that speaks Streamable HTTP works the same way. The browser tools need the browser:read and browser:write scopes on the key.

Questions

Can I try it before paying?
Yes. A new account gets 100 credits, enough for a few sessions of real use. A session costs 5 credits to start and 1 per minute after that.

Start

Try it on the site you need this week. The first 100 credits are free.

Enough for ten scrapes or a first hour in the cloud browser. No card, no call, no minimum.
