Welcome to Scrappy! This guide will walk you through setting up your first lead generation campaign.
What You'll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A Scrappy account (you get 100 free credits when you sign up)
- A list of websites you want to scrape
- A clear idea of what contact information you're looking for
Step 1: Create Your First Project
Projects help you organize your leads. Think of them as folders for different campaigns or clients.
- Go to your Dashboard
- Click "New Project"
- Give it a name like "Q1 Outreach" or "Tech Startups"
Step 2: Add Sources
Sources are the websites Scrappy will scrape for contact information.
https://example-company.com/about
https://another-startup.com/team
https://agency-website.com/contact
You can add sources manually, or use our AI Source Discovery feature to find relevant websites based on keywords.
Using AI Source Discovery
- Go to Sources > AI Discovery
- Enter keywords like "SaaS startups San Francisco"
- Let AI find relevant company websites
- Review and approve the suggestions
Step 3: Start Scraping
Once you've added sources:
- Go to Jobs > New Job
- Select your project and sources
- Click "Start Scraping"
Scrappy will use Steel Browser to visit each page and extract:
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Social media links
- Company information
Step 4: Validate Emails
Don't send to invalid emails! Our multi-tier validation system checks:
- Syntax - Is it a valid email format?
- Domain - Does the domain exist and accept mail?
- Deliverability - Will the email actually reach the inbox?
Step 5: Export Your Leads
Once validation is complete, export your leads:
- CSV - For spreadsheets and most CRMs
- JSON - For developers and custom integrations
Tips for Better Results
- Start specific - Target specific pages like /team, /about, or /contact
- Use AI discovery - Let AI find sources you might have missed
- Validate everything - Bad emails hurt your sender reputation
- Organize by project - Keep campaigns separate for better tracking
